4-H has something for everyone. It is America’s largest youth development organization. It encompasses rural and urban youth from across the United States. Youth can participate in activities and engage in hands-on projects. Projects include agriculture, family and consumer sciences, Science-Technology-Engineering-Math (STEM), civic engagement, leadership and so much more. Youth can find their “niche” in 4-H and develop many life-long skills. These skills help them excel in all areas of their life including emotional, physical, and financial well-being.
4-H Projects
4-H projects and events also help expose youth to potential careers and hobbies.
Studies show that 4-Her’s are four times more likely than non 4-H youth to make positive contributions to their community. Additionally, 4-H’ers are two times more likely to feel positive about their wellbeing, and two times more likely to report living life with intentionality and purpose.
Seventy-seven percent of employers indicate they focus less on traditional school subjects, more on real-world skills. Given these facts, families are enouraged to reach out to their local county or state 4-H Extension office to learn more about 4-H opportunities in their area and how 4-H can impact your life not only today, but into the future as well.
4-H Members
Current 4-H members know how valuable 4-H is in helping develop important life skills, experience new opportunities, and create long-lasting connections. So why not help others experience those same benefits by talking with friends and schoolmates about 4-H and its value. Current 4-H members can also expand their 4-H experience by giving back to others through increased service opportunities such as mentoring fellow 4-Her’s in similar project areas or spearheading community service or civic engagement activities.
