With the 2024 gardening season rapidly approaching, we’d like to share exciting news about the Grow & Give program!
Grow & Give was established in 2020 to address food insecurity in Colorado. It connects backyard and community gardeners to food donation sites across the state. In just 4 years, Colorado gardeners have reported over 150,000 pounds of produce grown. Which has been given to community hunger relief organizations! We’re so proud of this initiative and the generosity of Colorado gardeners.
How to Give
As Grow & Give continues to evolve, we are excited to announce that we will be partnering with Fresh Food Connect. This will help streamline the “Give” side of the program. It will also enable Colorado State University Extension to focus resources on the “Grow” aspect. The Fresh Food Connect app will:
- Match gardeners to local hunger relief organization donation locations
- Track the pounds of produce donated
- Share the impact of the individuals donation throughout the season
We are so excited about this expansion of our partnership with Fresh Food Connect for the upcoming season! Please share this information with gardeners in your community.

What do gardeners need to do?
Beginning now, gardeners can download the free Fresh Food Connect mobile app to log their produce donations. If Fresh Food Connect is not active in their area yet, they should use the Fresh Food Connect online donation form to log donations. Plant an extra row, designate a raised bed for donations, or simply donate excess produce from your garden to a local food donation site. Your donations, big or small, make a difference in fighting hunger.
